kshandra: Keith Olbermann & Rachel Maddow (Smart is Sexy)

We have a whiteboard that lives on our refrigerator; [personal profile] gridlore wrote "FLORIDA! FLORIDA! FLORIDA!" on it yesterday. My productivity at work was atrocious as I kept scrolling through #PantsuitNation posts. I got home and started cooking ground beef for the Ultimate Taco Tuesday.

But I'm not the confident person I was when I posted that picture this morning. I'm fucking scared. For my husband, who will - no two ways about it - DIE if Trump takes office and overturns the ACA. For my sister and her wife, both for being queer and for being an interracial couple. For all the people I know and love who will be literally and figuratively in danger under a Trump administration.

Prove me wrong, America. Shatter the glass ceiling tonight. America is already great - let's make it better.

I hope we do it. I'm currently torturing myself at various websites, but will stop that soon and go eat dinner and watch stuff on the dvr. Nothing we can do anymore.

I hope, I hope, I hope.

Love you.

I feel for you but then Florida showed a different picture and now looking at the trends, even India is shocked.

I believe this t-shirt says everything I might want to:

I spent last night with my best friends and fellow Guild officers from Elder Scrolls Online in a private Skype chat. We decided the Guild could manage itself for the night and hung out, consoling each other and playing Cards Against Humanity.

Mostly we were comforting my friend Dro, a gay American living in the south of the US, who is terrified about your country's future. Another American friend who was there believes that the US is now so divided that civil war might break out within the next few years. I think that in reality, a lot of bad things will happen and there will be threats to a great many freedoms, but the US can't become much more backward/repressive than other first-world countries.

Honestly, the three things I am most concerned about are the possibility of repealing the "Affordable" Care Act, tearing up environmental protocol (as if the US wasn't polluting enough already!), and Trump's admiration of Putin.

It's pointless making ourselves ill with worry. Any of us could get hit by a bus tomorrow. Life will go on, somehow.
