I have a little less than two hours to strike camp at this point, so naturally I'm delaying the inevitable.

The rest of my Saturday, and thoughts on the weekend in general )

I managed to get distracted by a bright shiny object - literally - and am now waiting for AAA to unlock my car for me.... I was about to go grab lunch (at Taqueria 3 Amigos here in HMB - great burrito, but they use enormous pieces of cilantro in the guacamole) when it occurred to me to put the sunshade up. Mission accomplished, I got out of the car, hit the lock button...and didn't realize what I'd done until I was finished eating.

So now I've got about a 40 minute wait for the driver to show up - and once he does, I'm grabbing the owner's manual out of the glove compartment and seeing if there isn't a way to reprogram the keyless entry in the door handles, as the passcode wasn't one of the things [livejournal.com profile] dafydd and I got when we bought the car....

  • Well, my back hasn't killed me yet. I'm definitely not going to make a habit of not bringing the Therm-A-Rest, though - ouch.
  • I eat better when I'm camping. I don't simply mean that in the sense of "everything tastes better out of doors" - I'm making better food. Steak and a salad last night, scrambled eggs and CheddarWurst sausage this morning, more sausage with mashed potatoes and peas tonight (yes, I'm going to stay) - unless I decide to go back into town and try my hand at grilling chicken...when was the last time any of you talked to me when I was eating something where the directions weren't "just add water"?
  • The people in the campsite next to mine (who showed up at 2200 and proceeded to argue their way through setting up their tent) are using a car cover for a rain fly. It's almost enough to make me wish I had a camera with me.
  • I'm doing my Arthur Dent impression this morning - I have No Tea(tm). I'll have to see if they've got any in the office-cum-gift-shop.
  • Said gift shop has bottles of private-label wine for sale. If I was here with someone I might almost be tempted to buy a bottle.
  • I love being able to hear the ocean as I sit here...I guess I'm just gonna have to move here When I Win The Lottery.
  • I ♥ my new keyboard. Just sayin'.
  • I wonder if there's any place in town doing karaoke tonight....
  • Sekrit message to [livejournal.com profile] dafydd: I'm using the tin cup. ;-)
  • Damn, it's cold. I may crawl back in the tent after I clean up.

Speaking of clean up, it's time to do so.

Less than three hours into my trip, and I've already had two abrupt changes in plans and acquired a mantra....

This may or may not get long, so I'll cut it to be on the safe side. )
