(crossposted, with some edits, from my BMan village's board)

Decided that I needed boot covers to go with my Fabulous Playa Coat™ last month. Went shopping with [livejournal.com profile] hederaivy, from whom I was going to commission them, and couldn't find purple fur for any amount of love or money. Found a vendor online who not only offered them in purple, but makes them in extra large sizes to go around my *&^%$#@! calves. "I need these by 10/10," says I, as I'm having them shipped to my office (my neighborhood is NOT one where you want to leave a package on the doorstep). "No problem," says the vendor, "it usually takes us 1-2 weeks to ship."

This was on 9/19.

I emailed the vendor on Wednesday to say "Um, dude, WTF?" She writes back, saying she'll check the order status and promising that they'll be here by today.

I get another email this morning with a 0100 timestamp. "if you give me your home address I can have them forwarded there instead and they will for sure arrive there by Saturday delivery."

I gave her that address at 11; she has yet to reply. If I don't come home from Faire tomorrow to see [livejournal.com profile] gridlore waiting for me with a box o' fuzzy, I will be...displeased.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me birthday wishes so far, both in email and on LJ.

The theme for today is Because I Can. I dropped [livejournal.com profile] gridlore off at lightrail this morning, instead of driving him all the way to work, and went back to bed for 45 minutes - Because I Could. From there, it was into the shower, and then my wardrobe choices for the day:

  • Pink tie-dyed circle skirt (which would look a lot better if my ghetto booty didn't make it 4" shorter in back, but that's okay)
  • Black tank top from [livejournal.com profile] pentaclemoon (not the velvet one, the one from the twinset)
  • The shawl [livejournal.com profile] jilesa made me for $WINTERHOLIDAY last year, which is bi pride colored and glittery (and has an end I need to weave back in, but I never remember until I'm actually wearing it)
  • My bottle necklace from [livejournal.com profile] elynne (the message in mine is spirit ~ quest ~ help ~ flow ~ music)
  • The Celtic-knotwork ring [livejournal.com profile] h2ocrazyguy got me at BayCon (thanks again, sweetie!)
  • A Birthday Princess ribbon rosette that matches the wand I borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] supersniffles
  • And a tiara. Because I Can.

Tonight after work will be dinner with Doug (he suggested Chili's originally; I'm going to counter with BJ's - Because I Can), and he has promised/threatened to make sure all the waitstaff know it's my birthday. (I reminded him the tiara was probably going to give it away.) There will be photos.

A question for those of you going to the New Wave Prom tonight:

I've already decided on wearing the skirt and wrap in this photo. Do I wear the corset, too, or opt for a more comfortable top? (For those of you who saw me Friday night at BayCon, I'm thinking about the top I wore with it then....) [livejournal.com profile] iceblink brought up an excellent point about how warm the club can get, so I'm going with something rather cooler than velvet. I'll bring the camera and get pics, I promise.

I bought a lovely caftan top (like these, only in Celtic knotwork) at Pantheacon; it was the last one they had, so I bought two more of the sarongs they were obviously made from, operating on the theory that I could probably make them myself.

Probably.

I'm realizing that cutting (and, more to the point, hemming) the neckline is beyond my meager ability with needle, thread and machine. And while I've got two already made (the one I bought, and one I got as a hand-me-over from someone several years ago), I'd love to have the other two to take to the desert with me.

Anyone?
