I still don't see a whole lot of point in signing up for LoudTwitter; my tweets are already posting to Plurk and my Facebook in real-time, so having them show up here hours later is really kind of pointless. Nonetheless, collecting them here is occasionally worthwhile. Particularly as I can provide additional context that you wouldn't get on a LoudTwitter feed.
in the words of kjpepper, cut because we care (and because we know you might not) )

Up next, dinner with [livejournal.com profile] apandaleaf and her sweetie. Probably at Bob's Big Boy, since I won't have another chance this weekend.

I have officially gone shopping for the last time before I leave for the Burn.

You'll note I didn't say "I finished my shopping." :-/ No, I was a responsible Koosh, and actually paid all my Reality Camp bills this week, and was looking at the remaining cash when I said "Oh, crap, I still need to put GAS in the car to get there!" *headdesk* So I'm doing without cheese-and-crackers and the tuna-salad kits that I've essentially lived on the last couple of years, but I have my water, and the sodas I promised for the bar (along with a personal stash), and I know I've got more than enough stuff to get by. I need to pick up a roll of quarters so I can do a zillion loads of laundry, but I can find that somewhere.

Left LA around 11ish this morning; arrived at Offhand Manor about an hour ago. I drove the entire route, after [livejournal.com profile] murphymom and #1 Son split driving duties on the way down. (As I noted to both of them, I spent eight years driving 8-10 hours a day for a living - and always ended up back where I started. So this was an improvement.)

The funeral was..."lovely" seems an inappropriate word, but it's the best one I've got. It went much better on an emotional level than I had feared it might. The rest of the trip, OTOH.... I am so not ready to discuss what happened yet; suffice it to say it involved an Emergency Room visit and very little sleep last night. [livejournal.com profile] kor27 is a Hero of the Revolution for having been my sanity anchor after [livejournal.com profile] gridlore had to go to sleep; honorable mention goes to [livejournal.com profile] firestrike for fielding the first round of panicky text messages until he had to turn in as well.

Before I left work on Friday, I let my supervisor know that there was a possibility I wouldn't be in tomorrow; I'm emailing her to let her know that has now become definite, because I am certainly in no frame of mind to be dealing with people yet.

But first, this important announcement:

I am leaving for Los Angeles Sunday, March 18. I return to San Jose Tuesday, March 20. If you are in the area, and I expect (or am hoping) to see you, I will be emailing you pertinent information after I finish posting this. I will not have access to a computer for the duration of the trip; I do not expect to have the energy or time to catch up with anything posted to LJ during that time. If my opinion on a given subject is of vital import to you, mail me a link and I'll do my best to answer it when I get back, but don't expect anything resembling a rapid response.

Now the meme, and then sleep. )

[livejournal.com profile] murphymom called me while I was in SF tonight at a Burning Man meeting; the funeral is Monday at 1pm. We're driving down Sunday and driving back Monday, possibly leaving directly from the cemetary (yes, my mother's crazy, but we knew this). I'll be taking Monday and Tuesday off from work, since I will clearly be in no condition to think the next day, no matter how quickly we make it back to the Bayarrhea; I'm giving serious thought to enhancing this by having Mom drop me at the bar (she has to return [livejournal.com profile] n_1_n and the minivan to San Mateo, anyway, so she'll be driving right past it). [livejournal.com profile] kor27 has already said he'd be happy to pour me into the Short Bus at the end of the night and take me home if I choose to do this. I will probably not take the opportunity to get obliterated, but being around friends and chosen-family that evening will be a good thing, methinks.

More later; my alarm goes off in five hours.

[livejournal.com profile] murphymom dropped me off at Offhand Manor just after 7pm local time. After greeting [livejournal.com profile] gridlore, worshipping him for the amazing job he did cleaning the kitchen, and reacquainting myself with our plumbing, I sat down to check mail and LJ.

"People" filter only, and it still took me ?skip=350 to get back to my last post Thursday night.

In short, the motel SUCKED, the Sk8rgrrl rocks my face off (I want to be my kid sister when I grow up), and Bob's Big Boy still makes the best hamburgers in the world.

Now, I'm going to go curl up with my new bear in bed (and pray that Marty forgives me for having left without him on Thursday).

I'm packed; I've got CDs and a stuffie picked out (Marty, of course - who else would I take on a trip to see the Bruins?); I'm showered and dressed. Now I just have to wait for [livejournal.com profile] murphymom to get here.

Here's the event schedule; I have no idea how much of this we'll be going to, beyond tomorrow morning's 0830 breakfast. I also have no idea if there will be a computer in the motel lobby on this trip as there was on the last one; even if there is, I'm cash poor this time around (my unemployment check isn't due to arrive until Saturday), so I wouldn't be able to pay for it. So if you want to get together while I'm in LA, and it doesn't look like I'm booked, send me a text message (yes, it's working again) with a callback number, and if I'm free I'll give you a shout.

I just wish I'd gotten more of a nap this afternoon....

Apologies to anyone and everyone expecting to see me at one (or more) of several Halloween parties this Saturday; #1 Son is still sick, and so I'm driving with [livejournal.com profile] murphymom to LA to see the Sk8rgrrl at Parents' Weekend. ([livejournal.com profile] megalion, if you know of anything going on Saturday night I might be able to get into, let me know so I can pack a costume.)

At 6:00 this morning, a general message went out over the onboard computers we have in the vans at work: Any driver with outstanding floating holidays or vacation time who wanted to cash a day in and go home early was invited to call the shift manager for authorization to do so. Seeing as [livejournal.com profile] gridlore and I have a fair amount of Stuff to do before we and [livejournal.com profile] dafydd head out for the weekend*, I took the opportunity.

Apparently not many people did, because another message went out shortly after that: If the office is unable to reduce the number of vans on the road, drivers will be laid off....

I'm trying not to think about that right now.

*Yes, we're going out of town. Together. My name has finally come up on the cast rotation with Zen Room, so we're headed to San Luis Obispo for Rocky. Also on the To Do list while we're there is a trip to Sycamore, badly needed by all involved. Yes, you're reading that right: I'm going hot-tubbing with my husband and my boyfriend. This could be amusing....
