[livejournal.com profile] gridlore and I are home, taking a break in the midst of the day's celebration. We did breakfast at [livejournal.com profile] baka49er's this morning, with [livejournal.com profile] isomeme, [livejournal.com profile] laurellady, [livejournal.com profile] madelineusher, and the Steeles (none of whom are on LJ), with presents afterward; the Steeles will be with his family tonight for dinner, and Doug and I will return for roast beast with the SoCal contingent.

The Loot List, in some semblance of order )

I have a couple of care packages I'm going to get in the mail tomorrow Or Else. I ran out of stamps and spoons at about the same time this year; I managed to get one batch of cards in the mail yesterday, but not everyone I wanted to send a card to is getting one, alas. (Including some people who sent cards to me, for which I apologize profusely.) All in all, it's been a wonderful holiday.

Yay [livejournal.com profile] kath8562!

[livejournal.com profile] gridlore called me during work to say I had two (TWO!) boxes from Amazon waiting for me.

[livejournal.com profile] ciannait, [livejournal.com profile] johnpalmer, thank you. That was totally unexpected. (Now to get Doug out of the house so I can watch all the bonus features on Robin Hood in peace...[livejournal.com profile] medancer, didn’t we watch the video at the Wayside one night?)

...maybe I should mention it in a less passive-aggressive way than buried in the comments on another post. It's a week from tomorrow (Thursday), and [livejournal.com profile] gridlore tells me that folks have been asking him what I want. Thus, the following:

  • I have updated my wishlists at Amazon, WishRepublic, and The Purple Store.
  • Pocket Dragons will, as always, be welcome, though opportunities to acquire them appear to be getting fewer and further between. I currently own (in alphabetical order) Happy Camper, I Said No!!, Magic Reading Hat, two copies of Rub My Tummy?, and Tea for Two. (Thanks as always to [livejournal.com profile] dandelion_diva and [livejournal.com profile] medancer for indulging my habit previously.)
  • For a more intimate splurge, anything in Bath and Body Works' Warm Vanilla Sugar line is always welcome, as are their Three-in-Ones (Body Wash, Bubble Bath and Shampoo) in Cinnamon Bun Heaven, Frosting Forever, or (if you can find it) Wickedly Hot Chocolate.

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] fuzzface00! I'll try to live up down to it. ;-)

Based solely on an off-the-cuff remark I made about going to karaoke after work a couple of weeks ago, my Secret Santa got me...

...a 3-disc 80s compilation.

Go, me.

Of course, I want to go thump whoever wrote the Amazon listing, because "Make Me Lose Control" is by Eric Carmen, damnit, NOT Rick Springfield...but anyway.

It's getting time for wintergift shopping again. I'll make a point of updating my wishlists soon, but in the meantime, these are a couple of things that have crossed my mind in the immediate past:

  • These boots, in either color, in a 9 or 9.5 WW (they're out of the 9WW in tobacco). Because damnitall, I've wanted a pair of these since I was twelve years old, and I'm GOING to have them. (Yes, [livejournal.com profile] gridlore, I know what happened to the soles on yours - but take a close look at the photo; these appear to have crepe rubber soles instead of plain leather, meaning they'll have slightly better arch support, as well.) And no, winding up with a pair in each color would SO not be a problem.
  • A bigger hard drive. I'm in the process of ripping (and in some cases re-ripping) all of our CDs, and I'm almost positive I'll have to stop before I've gotten very far. This machine has a 40G that's 3/4 full, and a 30G (the one I'm ripping the music to) that's 1/2 full. So you can see you wouldn't have to break the bank to make me a very happy Koosh if you went this route. (In fact, as second-hand is perfectly acceptable to this trailing-edge user, you might not have to even dent it....)
  • As always, more Pocket Dragons. With the artist's retirement set for the end of this year, they will be increasingly difficult to acquire (though not as badly as I was afraid of after hearing about the receivership in June - another distributor has picked up all of the Collectibles World Studios lines, though they're still working on getting the websites back up). I have a total of five, so the odds of you picking up one I already have are nice and slim.

More items if and as I think of them....

I would not argue if anyone wanted to buy me a poster. (Note that their site appears to have large amounts of b0rkenness in Firefox; I had to load that link in M$IE to get the order form to come up right.) Something to keep in mind for the holidays, maybe (and yes, laminated, please, since it doesn't cost extra).

There was an envelope in my mailbox today. In the envelope was a magnet with a lovely photograph of a tiger swallowtail, which is probably my very favorite non-monarch butterfly.

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] kayre, for the gift. (And yes, I noticed the mouse stamp, too - bonus points for that. *grin*)

Thank you!

[livejournal.com profile] iceblink, for the lovely handcrafted Valentine - were there not instructions with the origami this year? I only had a brief moment to look it over this morning in the car before work, and didn't see any.

[livejournal.com profile] wendor, for the additional paid account time. Completely unexpected, and absolutely blew me away.

[livejournal.com profile] firestrike, for the goofy text message. Happy Gangland Hit Day to you, too.

A dozen roses that last as long as the real thing, for 5% of the cost....

There were dragons on my doorstep this morning. :D:D:D:D [livejournal.com profile] dandelion_diva got me Happy Camper and Magic Reading Hat; if this keeps up I'm actually going to need a curio shelf for all of them! Thank you sweetie; you rock like a roomful of rocking chairs.

Tuesday I had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] yohannon (the first time we'd seen each other since - as he titled it - The Herpes Scare Debacle and Relationship Massacre of Aught Five; there are still some wrinkles to figure out, but the friendship, at least, is salvageable), and he brought me his old digicam, having upgraded earlier last year.

[We'll pause for a moment in recognition of my first reference to 2005 as "last year."]

It's an Olympus D-510 Zoom - 2.1 megapixels; it was Yohannon's original camera for the website (links from this page are NOT work-safe), so it's certainly enough for anything I'm likely to do. He also included three SmartMedia cards (the 8MB that originally came with the camera, a 32, and a 128), a USB card-reader, a carrying case, and - because this is Yo we're talking about after all - a $25 giftcard for Good Vibrations. (Which it looks like I can use on the website; much as I'd rather do my shopping in person, I don't know when I'm likely to get up to either store at this point.)

And then the mail came yesterday. There was a box from [livejournal.com profile] jilesa...and it was filled with wonderfulness. ;-) She made me the Highland Triangle Shawl, in this amazingly light, soft, WARM varigated yarn in pinks and purples and tealishblues.... As I told her in my thank-you note, I don't know whether to wrap myself in it and go to sleep or keep it boxed up for safe-keeping. It's amazingly beautiful, and I am touched beyond words that she put that kind of effort into a gift for me. Thank you again, love.

...this one simply addressed to "Berries."

You're weird, sir. ;-)

I did open the package, seeing as the sender already opened mine.... We have our own copies of Animusic now. Yay!

I am also highly amused at the thought that [livejournal.com profile] dafydd bought Scharffen Berger chocolates at the factory in Berkeley, flew them home with him to Seattle - and then sent them back here to me.

Thank you, sweetie; as always, you rock. *hugses*

The package arrived today, yay!

And a funny story besides...[livejournal.com profile] gridlore gave me his CD to open, since he didn't have fingernails to get through the shrinkwrap.

K: Oh, that's a pain.
G: What?
K: Well, there's shrinkwrap over the slipcover, and shrinkwrap over the CD inside the slipcover...
G: It's got the devil inside it, they need to be careful!
