I have no pics to share of finished objects this month, because I didn't finish anything. I touched three projects, with the vast majority being my FFXIV Fan Fest entry, which still isn't done. I have until the 6th, so hope springs eternal.

[Image Description: A pivot table showing I crafted over 30 hours in February 2026.]

I am pleased with the efforts this month. I definitely could have done MORE, but what I did was pretty impressive. Lots of trial and error to get things perfect. I like what I've accomplished thus far, and look forward to sharing the completed items with you.

[community profile] getyourwordsout isn't going too great. I'm supposed to be writing 10 days a month. I did not meet that goal in January so started February with a deficit, and only managed 2 days in February. And yes, I did count leaving Kiss Battle prompts as a writing day, because as I was leaving prompts, I was doing lots of "writing" in my head.

I suppose I could have counted a third day for the day I downloaded Scrivener and went through its tutorial, because
that's writing-adjacent, but I've already turned in my totals for February. Ah well.

As for the second day I wrote: man, why couldn't that count for multiple days? I wrote FOUR HOURS that day, getting into the state of Flow. The words just kept tumbling out! I'm very pleased that happened. I do need to return to that piece and finish it, but first comes the Fan Fest entry.

It is only March 1st, and I am halfway through my reading goal for the year! Huzzah! okay okay, a six book goal isn't that impressive, but when I set that goal, I really did think that would be a challenge.

In February, I finished a reread of Connie Willis' To Say Nothing of the Dog, which is a delightful time travel mystery. Even knowing how it ends, it was still fun to reread because of the journey to the conclusion. A++++ book, would reread again in the future.

I also devoured TJ Alexander's A Gentleman's Gentleman in a few days. This book showed up on a list of "Top Romance Novels of the Century" and it sounded fun, so I bought it because it was a decent price at Bookshop.org, even though I hadn't read the author before. I quite enjoyed the book, though I do have some quibbles. I think the choice to write it from only one of the lovers' POV (Christopher) did work for this book, but it meant I had a lesser feel for who James was as a person individual from Christopher. And although I had no doubt the couple was happy together, I couldn't rightfully say I believed they were actually in love.

I do think the book was skillfully written. It's a historical romance, but it does a good job of fitting LGBTQIA characters into that timeframe. Never once did I feel like the characters didn't belong in that setting.

I definitely do not regret buying the book, and will probably reread in the future. I'd recommend it, especially if you're look for trans romances!

I seek remote work in order to remain employable.

Not apologizing for that, and I'd better not be systematically blacklisted for it either.

The Jims Reports BUT first!

Hot Uncrustables News!!! Toaster toasting is good BUT Air frying (with a touch of butter on both sides) is AMAZING!!!!! I mean it. So good.

Now the Jims.

Jim Down the Hall. The birthday party was fine. The cake was a fail. Gail (his girlfriend) is sweet but she is no baker. Turns out the icing was the key and she couldn't get it so she slapped on German Chocolate Cake icing which has coconut which is evil. So I didn't have to eat a bit of icing and only ate the cake part which was good but not the one his daughter made last year.

The hit was the gift his son gave him. It's the coolest. It's a giant book (like 24"x14") of the front page of the Washington Post on his birthday for every one of his 90 years. It's fascinating. And a true genius gift for an old person.

Jim Across the Hall. As I predicted. He threw the Tighty Whities out. Our trash room has two chutes - one for garbage and one for paper recycling. And a milk crate for bottles. He has, for a long time, just dumped whatever he wanted to get rid of into the milk crate - chip bags, half eat hambuger, unfinished salad, whatever. It spills out onto the floor. I told the Health Services direct several times that this presents a hazard for those on our floor. Joan is going to slip on a tomato slice and that will be the end of her. I used to clean it up. Noelle used to clean it up. We all decided not to do that any more. Timber Ridge needs to take responsibility for the problem. Jim is not going to change except get worse. Yesterday afternoon, this is what I found in the milk crate.

PXL_20260228_204846102

I sent the photo to health services and suggested they tell his family that having shit delivered to him is useless as it will get tossed. I suspect it's going to have to get way worse before anyone does anything. I also suspect that his family is not stepping up to the problem but that's pure speculation. I just hope Timber Ridge does not let it go on until someone gets hurt.

Who does not love a good line chart? I sure do. I asked Gemini today if there wasn't some easy, simple website that would take my weight data from Wyze (or Fitbit since Fitbit reads Wyze) and slap it into a website for easy tracking. Gemini game me a list of websites - with no links which drives me nuts. Also the first three were no longer available - including Fitbit's own dashboard. But, down at the bottom was this one labeled as 'simple'. TrendWeight. Some dude set it up for himself but made it pretty damn robust and still very simple. And it has a share URL for you...

When I'm using a new app, I generally pay if pay is an option. I want the ads to go away and I want to support the developer. BUT if it's more than $5, I think about it long and hard and often maybe even delete the app and don't use it at all.

This TrendWeight thing was so clever, I found myself venmoing the dude $10 without blinking an eye even though his page about paying clearly says in a couple of different ways that he does not need or want the money. It's not the money, it's the thank you with teeth.

I had a lovely swim today but I hit a batch of my music that needs to be deleted. I think it's from when I was on a Beats Per Minute kick. I'm off that kick. I'll swap it out today.

In fact, I think I'll do it now.

Copying my rant here for when the hellsite eventually goes down.

So. I ran across a post on this here hellsite that claimed that Amita’s character is apparently ‘weak’ and ‘has no character development’. I’m not going to link that post, but I am going to talk about how that person is so wrong it is physically painful.

Now. Are there legitimate criticisms of the way Amita’s character is depicted? Absolutely. Can a lot of those issues be explained/contexualized by the fact that Numb3rs ran from 2005-2010, and culture has changed A WHOLE DAMN LOT in the intervening years? Also yes.

However. One thing. Amita Ramanujan is not is weak. Nor does her character have zero development, especially when you consider that N3 went off the air over fifteen years ago.

I’m going to deal with the two (imho) valid criticisms - the student/teacher thing and the Desi rep thing - first, then move on to the accusations of a lack of character development.

So the thing all y’all newbies have to understand. Numb3rs is a (relatively) old show. It started in 2005, when Les Moonves was still in charge at CBS, before #MeToo, before DADT was repealed, before Obama was elected to the White House, before we got even anywhere near the amount of representation we have today.

That is the environment in which Numb3rs decided to make Charlie’s student, the only other actress in the main cast, a Brown woman. Now, at the time, I don’t think they’d settled on whose love interest she was supposed to be, Don’s or Charlie’s.

But after s1? The Powers That Be at CBS wanted Charlie made more butch, more obviously straight, given the small but vocal contingent of Eppescest shippers. N3 didn’t have the money for another actress, and Diane Farr had already claimed Megan for Larry. Excellent decision on her part, but it left the show with a quandary: either pair Charlie up with his student, or fire Navi Rawat and write in a new love interest character.

They chose to keep Navi Rawat. They chose to keep the Brown woman, and make the geeky Brown girl the main character’s love interest. That didn’t happen back then.

Looking back from a 2026 lens, yeah, problematic as fuck. But Numb3rs, for all its fundamental kindness, for all its efforts to be as un-copaganda-like as it could, was still a network show in the late 2000s.

And in that context? A geeky brown girl love interest was revolutionary.

Now let’s move on to the second valid criticism: the Desi rep, and the fact that it’s complete and utter crap. Which is what happens when you hire a very Westernized Pakistani-German actress who was very divorced from her culture growing up to play a second generation Tamil Brahmin character who grew up in a city with one of the largest Little Indias in America, and nobody can be bothered to do any research, because all Indians speak Hindi and love naan and butter chicken, right?

How do I know the rep was bad? I’m literally from the same sub-community as Amita, with second-gen immigrant friends and cousins all over the US. If anyone wants, I’ll write up a detailed explanation of all the ways the show gets Tamil Brahmin American rep wrong. In the meantime, here are some fics with an actually accurate Amita.

That said. The worst of the bad rep happened in s4, which was also the season of the writer’s strike. A hugely important and unfortunately necessary thing, but it did mean that the shows that season had less than stellar writing sometimes. Which does go some way to explain how goatfucking stupid the Desi rep was in s4.

Those major and valid criticisms aside, Numb3rs got a LOT right about Amita, including making her a strong, well-rounded (for the time) character with depth. Under the cut, for spoiler reasons.

I’m not sure where the original poster got the idea that Amita is weak or doesn’t have character development. Just because you don’t like a character, babe, doesn’t mean they’re badly written.

Just banging tunes and DJ sets

[personal profile] dolorosa_12
The weekend kicked off in delightful style with the silent disco on Friday night. It was the usual joyful chaos of crowds dancing and singing their hearts out to the cheesiest music imaginable. Usually the three DJs are split thematically, with one channel playing pop, one alternative music, and one hip hop and rnb, but this time they split up across the decades. I think if I counted every song up, the '90s channel probably slightly won out for me, but I was too busy happily jumping around to count. My face literally hurt from smiling so much and so widely. Amusingly, there was a bit of confusion at the beginning when one of the DJs announced that somehow his channel was being transmitted at Ely train station. I have no idea how this would even be possible, but if true, the commuters heading north or south at 8pm would have had a rather disorienting experience.

Although — in deference to the cathedral location and the fact that most attendees are over forty — the event finished at 11pm and I was home about five minutes later, three hours straight of dancing followed by not enough sleep did take its toll, and my two hours at classes in the gym on Saturday morning were even more exhausting than usual. I made it through, hauled myself into town to meet Matthias at the market, and whipped around doing the grocery shopping at top speed in order to escape the impending rain. We made it into our favourite cafe/bar, amazing food truck cheese, sauerkraut and pickle toasties in hand, just as the first drops began to fall.

Spring is finally starting to show its face — dark pink flowers on the quince tree, crocuses blossoming purple in the raised beds, and other bulbs emerging from the ground. I bought a bird feeder, filled it with mixed seeds, and hung it up in the back garden, although I haven't noticed any birds making particular use of it so far. This year, I'm starting my fermentation plans early, and made a test batch of this sauerkraut yesterday. It needs a few days left alone in a dark cupboard, and then I'll test the results.

This morning was swimming, crepes, river and market wander, with coffee from the rig in the market square. I've just returned downstairs after a very lazy yoga class, and I plan to spend the rest of the afternoon slowly winding down, with my crysanthamum flower tea in hand, catching up on Dreamwidth.

I read two books this week, both in their way dealing with trauma recovery, one with staggeringly better results than the other. The difference in quality is so dramatic that it almost feels unfair to compare them, and yet I can't help doing so due to their thematic overlap.

First up was Deerskin, Robin McKinley's retelling of the 'Donkeyskin' fairytale, which was the remaining recommendation from my post requesting fairytale/mythology retellings. This dark and unsettling fairytale has incestuous rape at its heart, and so for obvious reasons doesn't get included very often in anthology collections. McKinley handles this difficult subject matter with perception and sensitivity, telling a story in which physical and mental flight, and space and time (in a sense outside of space and time) experiencing the cyclical and linear growth of the natural world allow her heroine to return back to herself, in healing, bravery, justice and human connection. One thing I always feel McKinley does very well is convey the full richness of all the senses, and this is on full display in Deerskin: the bite of the winter cold, the softness of a new puppy's first fur, the welcome intense taste of food after a long period of hunger, the way fear and trauma are felt in the body, and so on. The whole thing is just staggeringly well done — McKinley at her absolute best.

The second book was A Theory of Dreaming, Ava Reid's follow-up to her dark academia A Study in Drowning. The former was originally intended as a standalone, and certainly drew its characters' stories to a satisfying close, but given it ended up being a breakaway success almost solely due to TikTok word-of-mouth and reviving its author's career, I assume a sequel was more or less inevitable. Dreaming sees its central couple Effie and Preston return to university, uncovering more shocking secrets about the great canonical works of literature that underpin their two warring nations' origin myths, contend with more institutional sexism, classism and xenophobia, and try to shore up their relationship in the face of Effie's ongoing mental illness and trauma. The problem, as always with Reid, is the complete absence of any subtlety; everything is overexplained and beaten into the reader's head with the clunkiness of a hammer blow. Reid is one of the worst culprits for a kind of fearful authorial overexplanation, as if writing in anticipation of a social media mob ready to descend at the slightest hint that depiction might equal endorsement, spelling out her books' central messages over and over again like a streaming-era TV show putting clunky plot and thematic exposition into its dialogue in case its audience gets distracted by mobile phones and misses something crucial. The rarefied ivory tower privilege of her fictionalised university, the unsophisticated exploration of war, the resolution to all the various injustices piled up on Effie — everything is anxiously spelt out, and then spelt out again, and then concluded in the most 'and then everyone applauded' Tumblr post manner imaginable. As with A Study in Drowning, the inspiration from AS Byatt's Possession is clear (and acknowledged), but honestly, that just made me want to reread Possession again.

I have another Ava Reid book making its way to me at some point via library holds, and I know it's likely to irritate me in similar ways. Her first couple of books had promise, but I feel everything since has been a serious step down in quality, and yet I keep trying.

You are cordially invited to feast your eyes on something a bit more refined today: fabulously formal cakes!

By Laura Stankis of JaCiva's

Please note: black tie required.

King Kong definitely got the memo; check out his tie and tux on this fun art-deco topper:

Ack! So cute. He's even color-coordinated with the cake's monogram:

But as every Downtown Abbey fan knows, white tie is THE most formal of all evening wear, and to dress accordingly. You know, like this all-white wonder:

By We Bake In Heels

Just look at that painstakingly perfect piping!

Can polka-dots be elegant? You bet!

Submitted by Nicole S. & made by Sugar Bakers

It doesn't get more classic than black and white with red roses all over.

Hey, remember that time on Downton Abbey when Matthew was forced to wear a black tie to dinner, and everyone acted like he had just shambled in wearing a holey bathrobe and flip flops? Ha! So funny. (Um, this show is better than I'm making it sound, honest.)

By Sharon Wee Creations

Don't worry; I bet no one would ever mistake this beauty for a waiter.
(Mostly because that wouldn't make any sense, but still.)

Ok, back to more civil matters. Remember that time on Downton when that thing happened to that person, and everyone was, like, really shocked? (Jen says I'm not allowed to give any more spoilers, but YOU know what I mean.)

Well, I guess we can only hope the person who that thing happened to will come back later. You know, for a...cameo:

By Mina Bakalova

But not as a horse.
I guess we can only dream!

And while we're dreaming, imagine the look on Mr. Carson's face if Mrs. Patmore baked this stunning cake and hung it up in the dining room, chandelier-style!

Made by Gateaux for  Betty Crocker

That's right, this cake is actually hanging from the top, like a real chandelier. Or chandeTIER, as I like to say it. Cake joke! (I've never actually said that.)

But I do love the hexagon-shaped tiers of this next cake. Aren't the hand-painted doodles dreamy?
File this under 'fabulous!'

Sub'd by Kate K., made by Sweet & Saucy Shop

That's worthy of Lord and Lady Grantham's finest dinner party. I bet even Granny would approve.

Sorry. I'm totally done talking about Downton Abbey, I swear. Let's talk about this damask cake:

By Sugarland

Ain't no damasquerading, it's lovely!

And here's one last extravagantly fanciful cake to remind you to make the rest of your weekend an occasion. And maybe watch more reruns of Downton Abbey. Again.

Sub'd by Su-Anne & made by Cile Bellefleur Burbidge

WOW.

Also:
"What is a weekend?"
(Couldn't help it!)

Happy Sunday, everyone!

P.S. More pretties!

The purple ones are my favorite, love that color gradient.

Last week's bread held out, unto there being (just) enough for frittata (onion &thyme) for Friday night supper.

On Friday evening I made some Famous Aubergine Dip (had wild pomegranate vinegar, yay) to take to book group (happening this evening), but have not made foccaccia due to other attendees' gluten issues. Will take carrot sticks instead.

Saturday morning breakfast rolls: basic buttermilk, 3:1 strong white/dark rye flour.

Today's lunch (a bit early because of having to set off to book group): partridge breasts rubbed with crushed white peppercorns, thyme, rosemary and salt, panfried in butter and olive oil, deglazed with madeira; served with kasha (have now discovered the correct proportions, and this sort does not go mushy, either), purple tenderstem broccoli, for which I sauteed chopped ginger and fennel seeds in olive oil and then added the broccoli and stirred around for a bit, then added a few tablespoons of water and steamed for half an hour, and gingery-grilled baby courgettes.

Finally having time to sit down and write something here that isn't a small update lol.

I got the exchange fic done, which was very important. Happy how it turned out. In general there wasn't much writing this month, but for what's worth, I did like most of the things I did. That one gregclair fic was... ehhh, I did want to get it done for the event so it is what it is. Better luck this month with writing better.

Since Gregor's bday is a mess when it's not a leap year, I technically can still write smth for him today still. I do have one fic I liked working on that's not done yet, so that can work. I don't think starting the one i really wanted to write now would be that great due to not enough time, so I can save that for later.

Other non-writing fun things

I finally got games working on my linux that aren't ones on steam! This is important because I can't really buy games with no money, so this was a great thing for me! Besides Lobotomy Corporation, Fear & Hunger and Darkest Dungeon that I've been played at the beginning of the month, I finally got back to Silksong! Had to restart everything, but considering I was still in the beginning of act 2 there's not too much that I have to go through for that. Tho that final battle of act 1 is once again giving me trouble lol. I do think I should work on getting more upgrades and some more items as I am short on them, including money. This game is very stingy regarding that, tho it's also a bit on me for not going out of my way to find relics and do stuff I did do in the original playthrough. Should probably focus on that instead of hitting a brick wall and going unga bunga on the boss.

Very amazing things for my TCG stuff, as I was able to find hosting for it. It's currently pending so I'm waiting for when everything is ready, but I am so happy for this. this also means it will be easier to play more than one TCG as I will have both space and ability to edit things much more easily.  I've been thinking of joining sparkling, so now that's probably happening once I figure PHP out.

Separate hosting in general is great for me since I have to update my site on the daily if I want to add or remove cards, which is a bit annoying as I've only been updating site for that rather than actual update stuff like when I have fics or add some stuff. This will prevent the site getting pushed when it doesn't need to at least and will only notify people when something actual happens there.

On Friday night, I went with a group of friends to see a production of Carmina Burana at the Royal Festival Hall. The music was amazing and it was a highly enjoyable evening - though apparently not nearly as spectacular as the last time I saw it (see entry from 18 Jan 2009)...

Playing With Fire by RJ Blain is one of the most ridiculous books I've ever tried to read - but I can't say I wasn't warned, since the blurb starts with the following:
Warning: This novel contains excessive humor, a fire-breathing unicorn on a mission of destruction, magic, romance, and bodies. Proceed with caution.
Unfortunately, there was another issue with it that wasn't covered by the above - it was incredibly repetitive. Bailey gets called to deal with a magical goo incident, Baily drools over Chief Quinn, Bailey gets contaminated by magical goo, Bailey drools Chief Quinn - repeat ad nauseam.
If the genders had been reversed and a male protagonist had been objectifying a female character to the degree that Bailey objectifies Quinn, I would have given up in disgust much earlier on - which perhaps says more about me than about the book.
I made it to the 40% mark and then found myself actively avoiding switching on the audiobook when I would normally be listening, so decided to call it a day.

Ugh. I love my cat, but she nearly died this morning. 4am, she started bugging me. I got up and fed her, and went back to sleep, and at 4:30, she was back. I shooed her off and tried to sleep, but I couldn't, because I was annoyed and knew she'd be back. Sure enough at 5 she returned and I finally gave up. I was so annoyed. It's my last night in my bed for 5 fucking days, and I didn't even get to sleep in. I love her so much, but goddamn.

So, I'm up. I'm going to check my prep for todays game session, and wait for Jess to get up and see if they want to do the pancake breakfast at Oregon Ridge Nature center, so I can get some maple candy. I'm a sucker for all things maple, I've gotta admit.

Aside from possible pancakes and game, I don't think we're doing a whole lot else. By the time we finish game, my sister will be on her way to NYC, so we'll probably just enjoy the quiet, maybe watch TV or something that we don't normally do when my sister is home. It's very difficult to enjoy a show that she's not into, because she talks so much during it. With the Pitt, I need to pay attention to the rapid fire dialogue, so I need her not in the vicinity. I suppose I could have watched Heated Rivalry, but I didn't think of it.

Yesterday was nice. Jess had some tummy cramps, so we cancelled their fitting for their suit and moved it to next weekend.

I worked in the morning and had a lot of calls, though my favorite was an older couple. They needed to move an appt that they had made through the portal. In the "special needs and accommodations" section, they had written something incredibly unflattering about our doofus in chief, which I found hilarious. I got them a good appointment.

Then, we relaxed for a few minutes while my sister got her hair cut. Then, it was off to the restaurant.

OMG, the robot server was cute as hell. The head and screen are shaped like a kitty, and it has this very young, very cute voice. It trundles up going "Hello, I'm here!" and then tells you what tray your food is on. Just so adorable! The food was also good, though next time, I swear, I'm getting all appetizers. The entrees were good, but the appetizers were phenomenal.

We got cheese wontons, which were my favorite. They were little purses of a white gooey cheese, in an amazing sauce that I could have put on anything. When we finished the meal, I put in another order for them, and overstuffed myself. No regrets. The other appetizer was gyoza, which came in a circle with a thin crispy covering over them, like they put a bit of lacy batter in the pan and then added the steamed gyoza. It was just the right amount of crunch.

I had the skewers, which were very tasty. I dipped them in the sauce from the wontons. Jess had Pork katsu curry, which had a very nice flavor. But they weren't as good as the appetizers.

Next time, I will also get the pork Shumai, and some other appetizers. It'll be great. Then, we waddled out to the car and came home and laid on the couch, just stuffed.

After lunch, we were discussing the possible Hawaiian hotels, and Jess admitted that they didn't like the one I was looking at, because they had a captive dolphin pool and a swim with them package, and that bothered them. So, back to looking for hotels. I did some more reasearch, looking specifically into LGBT+ friendly hotels. We settled on the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort.

It seems very nice, with plenty to do, but a little bit away from the main area. It's down near the reef that borders Waikiki Beach. It has a small beach, as the water comes up very close to the hotel, but it's enough for us. I got a club Oceanview room, so we'll have a great view of the Pacific, and we get access to the club lounge for breakfast and also dinner snacks, and drinks, which you could totally make a meal of if you so desired. There are some local restaurants nearby, and the rest are a quick cab ride away. Best of all, we're close to a trolley loop, so we can use that to get around during the day. Tours will also pick up there for the most part.

We'll have to see if we want to do any big tours. I've been looking on Viator, and there's plenty of fun things to do, but a lot of really long tours with multiple stops. I'm not sure I need a chocolate, wine and rum tasting. That seems like it might be excessive. I definitely want to go to the Dole Plantation and maybe a macademia nut farm. I'm very food motivated, don't you know.

I can't book most of it, but I'm looking. I did book the hotel, but the rest's calendars don't go that far out. I'm definitely getting a hotel transport that gives you a lei on arrival. That just seems fun, and a good memory to have.

The next week is kind of busy. I've got an appt Monday after work with my psych doctor, on Tuesday I have a virtual with a gyn. The FDA approved an at home pap smear, and since I had a really bad and painful experience with my last one, I figured I'd try it. You meet with the GYN, and then they send your the kit. It looks simple enough. You take the sample, send it off, and get results. And then, no pap smear for the next few years. It costs about $99 with insurance, which is totally fair, and was FSA approved.

After that on Tuesday, Yoda has an appt for his Cytopoint shot and to see if he needs antibiotics, because he's been licking his skin, and chewing on his leg a lot. Wednesday is quiet except for game, and then Thursday, I have the interview. Friday is again quiet, except that the sister will return, and that will be a bit of chaos.

I'm not worried about the interview, it'll be what it'll be. I'll do my best, and after that, whatever will be will be.

Oh, and on Tuesday, my new Macbook Air will show up! So I'll spend some time transferring files, and downloading all my apps. I've got about 7 that I need to download and remember my password to. Not my favorite thing, but it'll be worth it when I have it all set up, and I've got a faster computer with a bigger screen that presumably will hold it's charge way better. I'll have this one for travel, which is good.

And now, I'm just going to do some prep for Arvandor today, and drink my coffee and wake up. Everyone have a restful Sunday!

  1. What made you happy this week?

Notification of winning a small summer research grant.

  2. What made you sad?

I was disappointed in a colleague for trying to conceal some serious underperformance when it could have been dealt with easily much earlier on. As it is, now another colleague and I are going to have to put in a lot of effort to attempt to rectify the situation before a deadline next week.

  3. What made you angry?

An academic colleague being outrageously disrespectful to a professional services colleague.

  4. What are you looking forward to in the next week?

Getting that sad piece of work, which should not have been mine in the first place, off my desk at the end of the week.

  5. What are you not looking forward to?

I have to be off-campus for two days next week. I'm not looking forward to the amount of meetings I've had to ram into the other three days of the working week.

"Tarry" is a good verb. I must remember to tarry more often.

2026-03-01 Rerun commentary: If you fell into a pit in La Brea, you might tarry because of being too tarry.
